MS Ambassador

Carolyn Smith

While leading a busy life, working as a lecturer with a renowned beauty college and enjoying life with my much loved son Daniel, I started to experience extreme fatigue and visual disturbance. I put it down to my lifestyle as a single mum as well as working full time.

After experiencing vision loss and chronic fatigue, a definite diagnosis of multiple sclerosis was now reluctantly a permanent part of my life. Following eighteen months of major denial, I began to mix with others who also had MS, allowing me to share my experiences with them. Receiving this support helped my life to turn full circle. With the ongoing help and support of those around me, I am now accepting of my diagnosis and free to "go with the flow".

I have learnt to face things head on, which has taken the sting out of the many challenges that MS throws at me and now I know there is nothing to fear, as every day, life starts over again.

Thank you for participating in the Melbourne Summer Cycle as you ride and shine for people living with multiple sclerosis.
