Why do you support MS Australia?
One of our key team members is married to one of the staff at MS Australia, and encouraged us to support MS through the Melbourne Summer Cycle. I also have a friend who plays cricket with me, who has MS, so I have seen the impact of MS on his life.
How did you go about reaching your team Fundraising goal in 2009?
Our team members constantly challenged each other to fundraise, and announced every major donation we received. We challenged some of our corporate partners to sponsor us. Our Sales team informed many of our clients that we were entering a team in the Melbourne Summer Cycle; we suggested they could sponsor us, or enter a team of their own.
How easy and rewarding did your team find your fundraising?
Some of our first time riders found that it wasn't as hard as they expected, join up, and then send an email, it's simple. It was very rewarding to see our team total rise with every donation; the website is a great tool to monitor your efforts.
Do you have any tips for other fundraisers?
Don't be afraid to ask..... Anyone and everyone, most people are more than happy to support a good cause. Ask your friends, family & work colleagues to pass your fundraising emails on to others too.
How did you go about organising a corporate team?
We started 3 years ago with just 3 onboard, the 2nd year was easy, everyone had heard how much fun it was, and we had no problem in getting a full team. We had team T Shirts printed up, and rode as a team to begin with. For 2010 are planning to organize a full team uniform!
How did your ride go on the day?
The ride is great fun, the organisation behind the scenes really helps and the volunteers were really supportive. The ride is a good distance as it is achievable for all levels of riders and the Westgate Bridge is a great challenge! At the finish site our team had a corporate marquee which was fantastic as it gave us the opportunity to relax and unwind with our team members.
Will you be back bigger and better in 2010?
Sure thing, we hope to grow the Hertz Hot Wheelz team in 2010, more riders and a bigger fundraising target. We made a fair bit of noise about it this year and hope to encourage more staff (family & friends) to ride
with us.
