Why do you support MS Australia?

I appreciate the valuable work undertaken by MS Australia, particularly in supporting those recently diagnosed with MS and their friends, family and colleagues.

How did you go about reaching your team Fundraising goal in 2009?

We were lucky to have some very motivated team members who love a challenge and must be good at twisting arms….. It started out slowly and then grew and grew.

How easy and rewarding did your team find your fundraising?

It was so extraordinary to see how supportive people were. Whether it was a small or large donation, it was all very encouraging and appreciated.

Do you have any tips for other fundraisers?

Share with people your reasons for participating, whether it is because you want to support people with MS or you want the physical challenge of the 40km ride. It can be more rewarding for donors if they know what it will mean to you also.

How did you go about organising a large team?

We promised home baked cookies on the day. Our aim was 100 sets of legs to make up Team Centipede – friends roped in friends and colleagues, who in turn roped in more friends and colleagues. On the day we had a lovely big team with lots of different connections between members.

How did your ride go on the day?

It was a terrific day and lots of fun to meet the whole team. Our team champion, Gerry, once again completed the ride in style and at 85 years of age was an inspiration to all. The cookies also went down very well (thanks Karen!).

Will you be back bigger and better in 2010?

Absolutely! We are very much looking forward to it and wondering if one day we may grow into a millipede…
